HistoryEstablished in 1918; still open as of 2026 The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer was organized as a congregation on 19 October 1912. Two years later, on 13 August 1914, George Klattenhoff was installed as the congregation’s first resident pastor. He also helped establish the parochial school, which closed in 2010, having fewer than twenty students enrolled. Originally, all services were conducted in German, but by 1916, because of anti-German sentiment during World War I, English became the congregation’s standard language. Throughout the next decades, the congregation saw several pastors, more building and renovation, and swings in its finances. In 1943, they purchased additional property so they could expand, and in 1947, they completed a new parish building. By the early 1950s, they had outgrown their church building and made the decision to build again. In 1962, a new sanctuary was built as the congregation’s membership reached 2000 that year.
