Meetings and Special Events
The St. Louis Genealogical Society hosts many events throughout the year. For an overview of the entire year, go to our calendar of events page.
Monthly and SIG Meetings
The society’s monthly meetings are held monthly (except for the month of our Family History Conference and December) as hybrid: in-person and via Zoom at the Clark Family Branch of the St. Louis County Library. Monthly meetings are free and open to all. They are held on Saturday mornings from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 noon. For information on the current meeting and how to register if you are attending remotely, go to the Monthly Meeting page.
The society sponsors three Special Interest Groups (SIGs), each of which offers meetings four times a year. Meeting times, days, and locations vary. Everyone is invited to these free meetings. Please check the individual SIG pages for those groups in which you have an interest:
Board Meetings
The Board of Directors meets at the society office monthly, usually the second Thursday of the month. Any society member in good standing may attend the society’s board meetings. Members may not participate in the meetings, however, unless previous arrangements have been made (e.g., for a presentation or specific discussion) or unless invited to do so by the board.
The board meetings for 2025 are as follows:
9 January | 10 April | 10 July | 16 October |
13 February | 8 May | 14 August | 13 November |
13 March | 12 June | 11 September | 11 December |
Open House
In the spring each year, the society holds an Open House on a Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to speak with our office volunteers, tour the office, and have a snack while you learn about volunteer opportunities, and ask your genealogy questions.
Trivia Night
Beginning in 2026, the society will once again host a Trivia Night. More information will be posted on the Trivia Night page, so please check back.
The Annual Family History Conference
Almost each year since 1970, the society has hosted an all-day Family History Conference (FHC), held each spring. The FHC typically features one or more nationally-recognized speakers, several outstanding local speakers, a vendor area, and an optional lunch.
Speaker Series
The society’s Speaker Series, held once or twice a year, in spring and in fall, offers an all-day genealogical event focused on a specific topic. The Speaker Series includes a series of lecture presentations on the event topic, and an optional lunch can be purchased.
Salt Lake City Research Trip
Each year in the fall, society members have the opportunity to conduct their family history research in the world’s largest genealogical library—the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. Guided by experienced tour leaders, each participant works independently on his or her own research. The Salt Lake City Research Trip includes seven nights of hotel lodging, some meals and meetings, and on-site assistance by the group leaders.
