Probate
The St. Louis probate records dating from 1802 to 1900 are available online as part of the Missouri Judicial Records collection at the Missouri State Archives. The Missouri State Archives filmed and digitized the original records.
In the future, St. Louis City probate records after 1900 will be available online and on microfilm. Currently, the Missouri State Archives and the Emerson History and Genealogy Center at St. Louis County Library Clark Family Branch have the St. Louis City probate alphabetical card index, which lists the probate cases from 1890 to 1989. The cards include the name of the deceased, the file number, and the date of filing.
St. Louis County probate records, starting in 1890 to approximately 1989, are available on microfiche at St. Louis County Library Clark Family Branch. The St. Louis County probate cases dating from 1877 to 1890 are indexed; however, this index is currently available only on microfilm.
