Henry Albers was born in February 1839 in Hannover, Germany. In 1866 he married Margaret (Koetting?), who was born on 21 June 1842 in Hannover. In 1867 they immigrated to the United States and settled in Florissant in northern St. Louis County. They had twelve children, but only nine are known; the others must not have survived long. The family seems to have moved back and forth between Florissant and Lincoln County, Missouri, with some of their children being born in each place. Their first three children were born in Florissant:

    • Mary (10 May 1868–15 February 1931) married August Restle and died in the City of St. Louis.
    • Margaret (11 October 1869–26 February 1943) married Bernard Schroer and died in the City of St. Louis.
    • Elizabeth “Lizzie” (10 January 1871–28 August 1951) married Bernard Rubbelke and died  in St. Louis.

It is unknown where the next two children were born:

    • Anna (10 May 1872–13 July 1934) married John Stindt and died  in St. Louis.
    • Rose (15 July 1875–26 December 1945) married John Foerstel and died in St. Louis.

The next two children were born in Lincoln County:

    • Caroline “Carrie” (8 November 1877–21 September 1965) married Bernard Simon and died  in DeSoto, Jefferson County, Missouri.
    • Bernard “Barney” (6 July 1879–14 June 1940) married Anna Kistner and died  in St. Louis.

The next two children were born in Florissant:

    • Herman (16 December 1885–2 May 1957) married Eleanor Hardnacke; he died  in California, but he is buried in the City of St. Louis.
    • John (26 August 1886–21 March 1956) married Callie Powelson and died  in Lincoln County.

At the time of the 1870 census, Henry and Margaret and their first two children lived in Florissant, where Henry worked as a house carpenter. At the time of the 1880, 1900, and 1910 censuses, the family lived in Lincoln County, where Henry was a farmer.

Henry and Margaret both died in Lincoln County—Henry on 22 September 1915 and Margaret on 25 November 1917.
