St. Louis Periodicals
Several periodicals include St. Louis data and provide insight into the history of the area.
The St. Louis Genealogical Society has a journal published four times a year that provides information about St. Louis people and facilities. The St. Louis Genealogical Society Quarterly is a member benefit. Quarterlies from 1968–1997 are indexed and copies of the three volumes of indexes are available for purchase. In 2010, the society published two CDs containing the indexes and articles in twenty-year accumulations (1968–1987 and 1988–2007). These are available for purchase by clicking here. The Missouri Historical Society (now the Missouri History Museum) in St. Louis has published scholarly historical journals for many years. The Missouri Historical Society Collections was published from 1880 to 1931; Glimpses of the Past was published from 1933 to 1943, and the Missouri Historical Society Bulletin was published from 1944 to 1979. In 1980, the publication became Gateway Heritage. An index to these journals is available at the Missouri History Museum website.
The State Historical Society of Missouri, located in Columbia, Missouri, has published a scholarly journal titled Missouri Historical Review since 1906. This publication includes many articles on early Missouri and St. Louis.
The Missouri State Genealogical Association publishes a journal four times a year and often includes articles about St. Louis.
