Vice-President for Programs(Two-year term): Karen Goode
Karen Goode first became a member of StLGS in 1985. After retiring from nursing in 2008, she started volunteering at the society’s office three days a week, eventually becoming volunteer coordinator. In that capacity, she coordinated the indexing for the enormous Parkin Collection, now on the StLGS website. She soon helped organize and has continued to be the leader of the society’s annual Trivia Night. Karen went on to work as board secretary and then volunteer coordinator for the national Genealogical Society’s annual conference in St. Louis in 2015. In 2016, Karen assumed the position of vice-president for membership, and in 2018, she was elected vice-president for programs. In her current position, she has also coordinated the society’s education program and worked to strengthen the society’s relationships with other repositories.
Treasurer (Two-year term): Viki Fagyal
Viki Fagyal is a lifelong St. Louis resident and avid researcher. She has served the society in many capacities for more than thirty years. She has been vice-president, education chair, newsletter editor, and a member of the board of directors. Most recently, Viki has been Family History Conference chair, education director, vice-president of programs, coordinator of several society research institutes, and treasurer. In addition, Viki lectures, teaches, and writes. She is author of a book on St. Louis orphanages and one on her father’s family and is currently working on her next book, which will be on her mother’s family.
